7/12 Sketch at Foster Botanical Garden
Saturday, July 12, 2025
9:00am - 12:30pm
Location: Foster Botanical Garden
Learn to sketch the beauty of plants and everyday surroundings. We will explore loose drawing and watercolor painting techniques. Sketching everyday scenes and the nature around us helps us capture and appreciate life in the present. No experience required.
10 students max.
Materials
Students should bring the following:
Brush, sketchbook + portable paint palette. (You can purchase or rent a watercolor kit from me if you don’t have or are unsure what to get. Please order at least one week prior to the workshop.)
Bring a #12 round brush or a Chinese/Japanese calligraphy brush, an ~8” x 5” sketchbook, and artist or professional grade watercolor paints.
A small bottle of sumi ink is recommended but optional.
You can bring a larger block or pad if desired.
Pencil + eraser
Large water bottle for drinking and mixing with paint
Portable stool/chair (optional, but it would be more comfortable. This is an example of an affordable, compact chair.)

Cotton rag or paper towel
Optional:
Binder clips (2) to hold down the pages of your sketchbook
Hat + sunblock
Snack (there will be a 15 min snack break)
